Mirage the Western Dance Society of NSIT is a relatively new society ,conceived in the year 2009, but it grows bigger and better established every year. The journey started off with a few dance aficionados getting together to simply enjoy the art of dancing. It’s grown from scratch to the present, which includes a dedicated and insanely energetic team.It has become one of the most active societies of NSIT and the best dancing talents of the college are recruited by Mirage every year. Mirage has performed in the DU circuit and even a few outstation colleges. Their main calendar event is Oorja, during Moksha, the annual fest of NSIT, which sees participation from all over the capital.
They say “ Dance is the hidden language of the soul”. And sometimes, what we feel, transcends words and lyrics, the emotional turmoil and the sentimental furore in our hearts being extremely profound and grave in its significance. It is these emotions that Capella, the choreography society of NSIT aims to channel. Focussing on thematic dance i.e. dance with drama, dance in Capella is about articulation of emotions, sending across a message, while transmuting all that we feel into our performances.
Started in 1998, it is one of the oldest societies of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology and has been involved in theme based productions year after year. Our most recent performance was inspired from an American Drama film ‘ The Stoning of Soraya M’ a true story based on the unjustified stoning of women in the Middle East when they are caught in an act of adultery.
Our calendar event Mudra, is a main event of Moksha, the annual cultural fest of the college and sees participation from all over Delhi and NCR. The society has produced and encouraged a lot of dancers, and even won the second prize in Rendezvous 2013. The society provides all its members with a great atform for expression and for discovery of the inner Nataraja and thrives on passion and energy, achieving milestones after milestones, scaling the mountains (well, metaphorically anyway) and set their hopes on the sky.
